iCare Card Recovery Free is a program that recovers lost files from memory cards, such as SD cards, Compact Flash Cards, XD Cards, Memory Sticks, MicroSD cards, MiniSD, SDHC, SmartMedia Cards, USB drives, or flash drives.
The application has a nice interface that can be used by anyone, because it doesn’t require advanced knowledge. All you need to do is launch the tool, insert the card or the USB drive, and refresh it. After the program displays the device, the next step is to scan it. During the scanning process, you can see some information about the FAT folders, the NTFS file records or the number of total files found. When the scan is over, the tool shows the files that have been deleted or lost.
To recover a specific file, you should check the file and select the output location. If you have a bad time finding the file, you can always use the search option. The application offers two ways of searching: you can search by name or by its type, date or size. You can also see a preview of a file. However, this function doesn’t work properly, because it displays some random characters and numbers. Another important aspect of this program is that it allows you to recover a maximum of 2 GB of data. At the bottom, you can see the remaining amount of data that you can save.
In my opinion, I think that this is a good program that can be really helpful. Unlike other programs, it actually recovers data and it doesn’t ask for a superior purchased version to finish the process.
- Two searching methods
- A preview of a file
- The previewing option doesn’t work properly
- The maximize option doesn't work
